N905CL with Capitol Air.
Capital bought it 11/9/67 and sold it to Texas Air Carrier 8/10/82
In that time it was leased to many other airlines. Capitol often flew the jet from LA to Europe.
Photos above were take at the same spot at different times in June, 1978. Photographer is unknown.

Below is an interesting email I recieved.
I just came on your site through surfing. In 1968-69 I had a summer job in Ottawa Canada refueling aircraft. I was hired to service Capital Airways mainly.
Old N4901C (and it was that registration number at that time, not N905CL) was well known to us for its age and condition even at that time. Rumor had it that it came in without rudder control one time, having to steer with the engines.
One night I was standing by my truck refueling her and the first officer came around with a flashlight looking up at the wings. "Hey, look" says he in a Southern drawl, "The fuel's dribbling out of wing here, running over to that aileron hinge and droppin' on the ground over there... Ah don' wanna go!"
Still she came and went for the two years I was there, and we knew her to be from the early DC-8's. Weird to see again the cockpit I looked up at many times late at night.
