This is your ticket to First Class DC-8 Panagra flying!
Photo's below are courtesy of Jorge Mauro.
This is the graduation class of Peruvian-Argentinian Flight Attendants in 1964 with the huge N8274H tail.
This photo shows Jorge Mancuso (still flying for American Airlines in these south american routes as most of the old timers passed first from Panagra to Braniff) in a jacket demo in a pre-flight from BUE to SCL back in 1966. In this picture you can see the bulkhead wall that separated the first class seating from the lounge. There is then a very thin lavatorie and then the cockpit. You can also see in the place that today are used as hand baggage racks, those big doors that opened down as "upper berths" (such a luxury, yes!) Those upper berths were 4 (two in the left and two in the right), only for first class passengers that paid just the $ 100.oo surcharge to use them. The cabin crew would put a ladder in front of their seats and a curtain would slide up there to cover their privacy, and have a nice sleeping flight!!!
Tony Mendiola (LIM Flight Dispatcher, in a flight LIM/BUE on one of the DC-8-31s. In this picture you can see the bulkhead wall that separated the cockpit from the first class lounge (the lounge had two lines of seats facing each other and a small table in between, for enjoyment of the First Class passengers).
Picture above is Dorothy Falter from the Buenos Aires base crew, sitting just in front of Tony, so you can now have a clear picture of what the DC-8-31s "lounge" looked like in those days.
Dispatching one of my plane's sisterships (N8275H) in Lima, back in 1967. Jorge Mauro is second from the left (the one with glasses). He was Operations Supervisor in LIM, working daily in Ops, Weight & Balance and dispatch.
Above is a Panagra postcard featuring N8274H

Photo above is of sistership N8277H, the last DC-8-31 produced. This photo is also soon after Braniff purchased Panagra.
